The Wheels on the Bus

Tomorrow morning begins The Longest Day 2- Revenge of the Van Ride.  Our first van leaves at 6 am, bound for the China-Hong Kong border. We get out about an hour and a half later, clear HK customs, and get into van #2, headed to the Hong Kong airport for another long van ride. Our flight departs a little before noon, and God willing, we arrive at O’Hare about 14 hours later, which will be mid afternoon on the 4th in Chicago to clear our little man through USCIS.

It will be a long day.  There had better be fireworks.

  1. Saying many prayers for a safe and speedy trip for all 3 of you…especially for your long flight!
I have it on pretty reliable sources that there will be a nationwide party for your homecoming and our newest little citizen! Pretty sure out our way the Boston Pops are pulling out all the stops and there may even be some cannons going off…
It has been so much fun reading your updates about your time in China and your first days as parents – I imagine it’s all about to get a lot more real now that you’re taking your little man home in your family-friendly vehicle…(complete with a car seat!! The pediatrician in me keeps having chest pain when I see the photos of small children sitting on laps in cars in other parts of the world.)…to your home with its schnazzy new baby room…and to your cats, of course.
Pat & I are all praying for a smooth transition home for all three of you – and that your jet-lagged Dragon Baby sleeps as well as possible!!
HUGS and can’t wait to hear about your long-awaited return HOME!!!!!!

  2. It will be a very long day, but so worth it. You have a beautiful family of three now, well five if you count Bennie and Val.

Love you all and wishing you safe and happy travels.

  3. Hey, I just noticed something – today (July 3rd) is the feast day of St. Thomas the Apostle, Alexander’s middle name. I will ask for his intercession for safe travels for your family!

  4. It has been wonderful following your growing family and your adventures in China. How fitting that this sweet, happy boy will touch down in the U.S. on July 4th. I look forward to meeting him. Warmest wishes to the Kelly clan!

    Sincerely,
    Mary Johnson

  5. God’s blessings be with you as you make the long trip back home to Illinois.
It has been very enjoyable reading your anecdotes about your experiences in China. Looking forward to meeting your little guy soon and wishing you the very best that the Lord can provide as you begin your life together.
God Bless All Three of You!

  6. What better way to celebrate our countries independence than returning home

Remember, Alexanders swim lessons start in 2 weeks 🙂
