We’ve decided against the word “nursery,” since, in the strictest terms, there will be no “nursing.” We’re word usage sticklers, so sue us.
For the last couple of weeks, we’ve been finally flipping the office over into “the kid’s room.” We’ve had our reliable handyman do a lot of fix-up tasks around our house (lots of painting, carpentry, new doors, shower, tiling, etc.), and we put another task before him right after the New Year. The main things we wanted to get done were new doors on all the bedrooms and painting the kid’s room. We threw together a list of a bunch of other (related and not-related) odds and ends, and the whole estimate was well within range, so we had him do the whole shebang.
We’re still in the midst of recovering from all that. The guest bedroom is still a bit of disaster. Now that things are actually cleared out of the former office, it’s officially the kid’s room, so no extraneous clutter is allowed. Which means there’s extraneous clutter everywhere else.
The good news is: the kid’s room looks great! Some friends have passed their crib on to us, and we got a great deal on a big 5’x8′ rug at the outlets. It really ties the room together.
Oh I just love the color! It will transition so well from a baby’s room all the way to elementary school. Have you had a shower? If you did, let me know where you are registered. If you are planning one, please invite me. I know I am far away, but you never know when I will show up in Chi-town…
Thanks! The color is robin’s egg blue, or as close as we could get it. You’re so sweet– I’ll pass your info along to my sisters-in-law, as I believe they’re planning something, but right now we could use a whole lot of positive thoughts to get us through the next few months of waiting! Hope to see you in the Windy City soon!
