We arrived in Guangzhou this evening after a mid-afternoon flight from Taiyuan. The airport was a little crazy, and our family was the subject of much staring. Alexander was a pro on the plane, laughing during takeoff and actually snoring during landing. We’ll see how he does on the long flight!
We’ll have a longer post tomorrow when we’re better rested. Good news though- it appears that Alexander has decided his father is an okay guy after all.
I was telling Brian that I still can’t believe that we were in Beijing a week ago, and now we are in Guangzhou with our son! These travels are the trip of a lifetime, but we can’t wait to get home to our family, friends, and felines.
You’re on the home stretch! And now in the great city of Guangzhou, the west’s first modern connection with China. Happy to hear of the easy flight experience Alexander had. I hope, as I’m sure you do, that it portends a comfortable homeward bound flight as well.
You said you’ll be jumping through American hoops for the most part while in Guangzhou, but with so many days there I imagine you’ll be doing a lot of sight-seeing. Have fun!
I’ve been wondering how the cats are doing. Bet they miss you! And the gardens too! Less than a week and you’ll be home!
So glad you’re safely in Guangzhou – and glad you have one flight behind you. I can only imagine trying to keep Alexander entertained on the big flight home to Chicago – but at least you’ve practiced now so hopefully you’ll feel like professionals! 😉 (Just kidding. 6 months in, and I still feel like we’re guessing when it comes to keeping kids entertained. I am TERRIFIED of taking our little guy on a plane in October…) I can’t wait to hear about Guangzhou, and can’t wait even more to hear about your travels HOME with your little boy! 🙂
We’re so happy to hear that you’re another step closer to home! While your next flight is much longer, it seems like a good sign that Alexander was unfazed by take off and landing and even managed to sleep on the flight.
